How long have you been working in soccer?
I’ve been working in soccer for the last two years. My first project was a mural for LAFC.
How does the game inspire you?
I grew up playing the game. It’s not a game to me – it’s a language. And language allows us to connect.
It’s only natural then that the language bleeds into my art, another language to communicate and connect.
How did the Inaria collab come about?
The collaboration came about after I mocked up something for Providence City FC (the Rogues). Inaria liked it, but couldn’t use it in time for their release. They reached back out when they had a new project – the First Love collab.
Who’s your team?
LAFC. It’s the first time a team has felt like it’s my own. I love all types of teams across the league (I have one in every league) but this one feels like home.
What’s your favourite memory from watching soccer?
My favorite memory is a tie between a 3-3 tie between Paraguay and Venezuela in Salta, Argentia for the Copa America 2011 and Spain v Chile at the Maracana in Rio during the 2014 World Cup. You feel the pulse of the crowd and it enthralled me to know most of the audience didn’t speak English – we spoke football.
What is your favourite creative/collab project?
Right now, my favorite project was Koche’s collab with PSG. The mix of high fashion and football is crazy and I hope we see more of it.
How has your style evolved over the years?
My style has evolved from the creation of the language to actual communicating. In the beginning as an artist you’re trying to create a way to communicate. Now I feel like I actually am having that conversation as an artist.
